Biography

Dr. Choe completed a Master’s degree in Landscape Architecture in 2015, which sparked her interest in understanding the relationship between people, nature, and the built environment. Her focus on socially oriented urban design eventually led her to pursue a PhD in Landscape Architecture at the University of Sheffield, where she explored the value of urban natural environments as settings for enhancing health care delivery.

After completing her PhD, she gained two postdoctoral experiences. She served as the lead author of the policy report titled 'Designing Blue Green Infrastructure for Water Management, Human Health, and Wellbeing,' which was produced as part of the EU Interreg NSR project. Following this, she took on the role of postdoctoral fellow in the Department of Urban Planning and Design at the University of Hong Kong. In this position, she collaborated closely with interdisciplinary teams, community stakeholders, and public sector partners to achieve impactful research outcomes in various healthy urban redevelopment projects. Her research interests extend to understanding the broader roles of practitioners in facilitating community involvement in urban spaces and creative methods for engaging people in research and design.

She previously served as a Research Assistant Professor at the School of Design, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, from 2023 to 2025. Committed to fostering an inclusive and engaging learning environment, she employs innovative teaching methods to encourage critical thinking and active participation among students. Her teaching philosophy centers on research-driven education, aiming to inspire students to explore the complexities of urban issues with curiosity and rigor.

Dr Eun Yeong Choe's research focuses on how diverse individuals experience, engage with, and perceive their surroundings, underpinned by a strong commitment to fostering holistic and socially innovative approaches to urban planning and design. She is dedicated to bridging the gap between urban design and community well-being, striving to create environments that enhance both health and social cohesion.
