Zhibin Zhang is an Associate Professor (Teaching) in the School of Public Policy at The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen. He holds both bachelor's and master's degrees from Renmin University of China, and earned his PhD in Public Administration from the George Washington University. Prior to joining CUHK Shenzhen, he held academic appointments at Nanyang Technological University in Singapore and Flinders University in Australia.
Zhibin’s research lies at the intersection of public policy, public administration, and nonprofit studies, with a particular focus on government–nonprofit relations in policymaking and governance. He is especially interested in uncovering the distinctive Chineseness in the Chinese approach of governance and public administration, and exploring its broader global implications. His work has been published in leading peer-reviewed journals such as Public Administration, International Review of Administrative Sciences, Administration & Society, Nonprofit and Voluntary Sector Quarterly, Nonprofit Management and Leadership, and Voluntas. Since 2019, he has served as Associate Editor of Nonprofit Management & Leadership.
A dedicated educator in the fields of public policy and public administration, Zhibin has received multiple teaching awards and commendations. He is also actively engaged in academic program development and administration. At Flinders University, he directed the Flinders–Nankai partnership program in international political economy. At Nanyang Technological University, he served as Director of the Master of Public Administration program and Deputy Director (Academic Affairs) of the Nanyang Centre for Public Administration.
